The Activity Atlas

About The Activity Atlas

Published Updated

The Activity Atlas is an independent, general-information reference to ISIC Rev. 5, the International Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities published by the UN Statistics Division. It explains the classification, its four levels, its 22 sections, and the change from Rev. 4 to Rev. 5, with primary UN sources on each guide.

What this site is

A reading map for a statistical classification. It is written for readers who meet an ISIC code in a table, a dataset, or a statistical release and want to understand what the code means, which version it belongs to, and where to check it.

What this site is not

This site is not the UN Statistics Division, not a national statistical institute, and not a business register. It does not determine any reader’s code, principal activity, or registration, and it does not offer a code-finder or lookup tool. No author names are published, and no contact email is published on this site.

How to use it

Start with the foundations cluster, then read the four-level structure, then the section that covers the activity in question. Always check a code in the UN Statistics Division structure, and confirm an entry with the national statistical institute or business register that holds the record.
